Octreoscan™ (kit for the preparation of indium In-111 pentetreotide) is a unique molecular imaging agent for the scintigraphic localization of primary and metastatic neuroendocrine tumors bearing somatostatin receptors. Do not administer Octreoscan imaging agent with TPN admixtures or into TPN IV lines. Sensitivity of scintigraphy with Octreoscan imaging agent may be reduced in patients concurrently receiving octreotide acetate. An intravenous solution of glucose should be administered to patients with suspected insulinoma. Use in patients with impaired renal function should be carefully considered. Adverse events include dizziness, fever, flush, headache, hypotension, liver enzyme changes, joint pain, nausea, sweating, and weakness. Bradycardia and hematocrit and/or hemoglobin changes are possible.
